Canada made some noise at the 2004 DMC World
Finals...

The 2004 DMC
World Championship weekend was held at the Carling Apollo Hammersmith
on September 4th & 5th in London, England. Canada was well represented in
all three competitions. Drastik in the Battle for World Supremacy,
the Funky Teknicianz in the World Teams Battle and DJs Brace
& Dopey in the Technics DMC World Finals.

The DJ Championships weekend kicked off on Saturday with the
2004 DMC Battle for World Supremacy.
Canada's Drastik battled all the way to the Semi Final round. He
first beat China's DJ Shorty in the first round, then beat New
Zealand's Manchoo in the Quarter Final. Drastik was defeated in the
Semi Final round by UK's Silk Kuts, but Drastik was clearly the
crowd favorite. The Supremacy Battle's final outcome was really
pre-determined with the outstanding Semi Final round of USA's I.Emerge
and Japan's Akakabe.

The
World DJ Team Championships was also
held on Saturday. Canada's Funky Teknicianz (M-Rock & Biskit)
represented for a 2nd year in a row but the defending French Team C2C
took the World Teams title for a second year in a row. France's La
Guilde placed 2nd and Germany's Lordz of Fitness placed 3rd.

The
2004 DMC Technics World DJ Championships
was held on Sunday September 5th. The event started in the afternoon with
a 3 minutes elimination set by each of the 20 country World Champions;
R:Ash (Tunisia), DJ Rattle (Singapore - who certainly deserved
an award for most infectious smile), Staen 1 (Australia), Irie
(Holland), Tu-Ki (Ireland), DJ Gengis (Italy), Sid
(Sweden's 15 year old wonder kid), Lazy Ming (Hong Kong), Shorty
S (China), Roman Zerano (Austria), Nasty Kutt (Norway),
Gero (France), Brace (Canada's own Champ from 'the Peg),
Rafik (Germany's amazing cutting DJ - Lordz Of Fitness crew),
Turkman Souljah (Denmark's illest), DJ Taiji (Japan's
Kansai Regional Heat
winner), I.Emerge (USA's 5th Platoon member), Blakey (UK),
Rocky Rock (Phillippines) & Manchoo (New Zealand). Only the
top 12 DJs made it to the evenings 2004 World Finals competing against
Canada's own DJ Dopey the Defending World Champion.
